Strong, constructive, successful programs have one thing in common: strong leadership.
Leadership sets the expectations, established the goals and objectives and then frequently reinforces by demonstrated interest and outward, vocal and visible support of the initiative. This is no different for the lubrication program than it would be for creating any other highly effective organization.
The fist step in changing the performance, and eventually the culture, surrounding the program is to establish the right expectations, which depends on a winning strategy. The strategy for this critical function should should conform to the same strategy as the overall reliability strategy. If there is no company broad asset management strategy then one should be crafted alongside development of the lubrication program strategy.
Following definition of the planned strategic direction, tactics for accomplish the strategy should be discussed, and goals and objectives set to free the ensuing work from the clamor of the busy manufacturing environment.
